Funky Phantom: Mudsy at Mardi Gras Ch. 3
The next morning, Brooke Masterson woke up, and suddenly remembered that Mudsy, the Funky Phantom, was sleeping near her, in an old armchair, and keeping guard, just in case. Thankfully, the cautious ghost didn’t have to do anything, since nothing seemed to happen, during the night. “Another calm night,” Brooke sighed, to herself. “But it’s results day, today, and I bet Mudsy wants to see. “Mudsy,” she coaxed, putting on her robe. “Time to get up, Colonial man.” At that, Mudsy slowly woke up, and yawned, “H-Huh…? “Wha-...?” he mumbled. “What time is it…?” “Wake up, sleepyhead,” Brooke chuckled. “It’s morning.” “Ooh…” Mudsy yawned, sitting up, and stretching, before realizing where he was. “Oh, good morning, Brooke, you’re a lovely sight, for sleepy eyes.” “Well, rise and shine,” Brooke smiled, as Boo stretched, and yawned, himself. “It’s results day for the King Cake baking competition, today. “In the meantime, I better get to work with makin’ breakfast.” she sighed. “And I’ll brew the

The next morning, Brooke Masterson woke up, and was jolted awake by the sight of the ghost, Mudsy, snoozing away in a nearby armchair. “What’s he doin’ up here?” she wondered, to herself. “Hmm, was he scared of what’s downstairs?” She chuckled, softly, at that notion, being careful not to wake the Funky Phantom. “What a crazy idea,” she giggled. “A ghost who’s scared of things that go bump in the night.” She then noticed a red rose on the bedside table, and wondered who put it there. As she made her way downstairs, she found the rest of the Funky Phantom Crew slowly waking up; “Mornin’, Funky Phantom Crew,” she greeted. “How about some breakfast?” “Sure.” Skip yawned. “Mudsy?” April called, facing the fireplace. “Time to get up. “Mudsy, are you there?” she asked, when she was met with silence. “I don’t know if y’all should be worried,” Brooke chuckled. “But Mudsy is up in my room, still sleepin’.” “Oh no…” Augie groaned, rolling his eyes, in annoyance. “Now, now,” Brooke reassured them

It was a chilly morning, on the road to New Orleans, and a lettuce-green dune buggy, called the Looney Duney, drove past a nearby bayou; the buggy’s occupants were three teenagers, a bulldog, a 200-year-old ghost, and his ghostly cat companion: they were the Funky Phantom Crew, and they were on their way to one of the biggest holidays, ever. “This is a good experience, Mudsy,” one of the teens, April Stewart, grinned, referring to their ghost friend. “Your first Mardi Gras.” “Such excitement, I’ve never been to Louisiana, before,” the ghost, Sir Johnathan Wellington “Mudsy” Muddlemore, replied. “Then again, I don’t think it even existed, when I was alive.” “True,” Skip Gilroy, the skinny, red-haired teen recalled. “The Louisiana Purchase wasn’t made, until about 1800.” “I was practically dust, by then,” Mudsy realized. “Heavens to Betsy Ross, I still have much to learn about the rest of this country.” “In the meantime, I think you better tune out, Mudsy,” Augie Anderson, the brawny

:music: Cold, late night, so long ago, When I was not so strong, you know, A pretty man came to me, Never seen eyes so blue. Even though I could not run away, it seemed We’ve seen each other, in a dream. It seemed like he knew me, He looked right through me, yeah… “Come on home, girl,” he said, with a smile. “You don’t have to love me, yet, let’s get high, a while. But try to understand, Try to understand, Try, try, try to understand, I’m a magic man.”:music: Even though Dr. Teeth’s name is mentioned, first, when people thought about the Electric Mayhem, he always made sure that the whole band got credit for their dues. After seeing some protests, on the news, he also knew that some people don’t approve of many couples, unless they were a man and a woman, only, and the idea of someone dating more than one person, at the same time, was known as “cheating”, or nastier things. Much to his and the band’s relief, no one really knew that they were in a polyamorous relationship. As Dr.

(prompt #1: Sam is in a bad mood, and is mumbling a list of things they don’t like about themself, under their breath. Dr. Teeth notices, and chimes in with a way longer list of things they like/love about Sam.) (prompt #2: Sam really wants to give Dr. Teeth a special gift, for their anniversary, and secretly learn how to draw/play an instrument/write poetry, so they can draw/play/write something specifically for Dr. Teeth.) “Dumb, awful, repetitive.” Those three words were how Sam Eagle described himself in this very moment. Everything about himself made him angry, but why? He didn’t know. It could have been that he kept messing up with the legal papers he was supposed to sign earlier that day: he signed the wrong papers, meaning that he was unable to fix the potential damage he possibly caused, and it infuriated him. His mistake made him recall more insults from fellow Muppets, such as, “Dull, harsh, and cold.” The American Eagle felt lonelier, and not even Joe Weasel, of the

(Prompt: Sam thinks that Dr. Teeth has forgotten their anniversary, but Dr. Teeth is planning something special in secret.) It has been almost a year since Sam Eagle was convinced to date the keyboardist, Dr. Teeth, but he never knew that they would ever have a relationship. For the past 50 years, Sam was convinced that same-sex couples were straight-up illegal, even if they were just dating, but he recently saw the error in his way of thinking, after Dr. Teeth explained. Sam looked at his calendar, and saw a certain day approaching: the first day that he and Dr. Teeth officially dated. The light blue, bald eagle remembered that day as being one of the most enlightening nights he had experienced: before, he just assumed that Dr. Teeth was just another “brain-dead hippie”, but the good doctor is much smarter than that, and also had his share of troubles. Sam knew that he had to do something for Dr. Teeth, in return, but he didn’t know what. At the Muppet Theater, Sam noticed Dr.

A few months later, Gart DeFault finally transferred all of his belongings to his boyfriend, Pendulum Depot’s, house; ever since revealing that the two Mechanicals formed a truce between the Blinking Lights and Solid Lights Factories, some citizens were confused, and some even thought they went crazy, but neither Gart nor Pendulum cared. During those few months, Gart and his golden retriever puppy, Biscuit, felt more at home with Pendulum, and both Mechanicals thought about proposing to each other. As Pendulum browsed a catalog of engagement rings, he had trouble finding the perfect one to propose with; a silver ring was too simple, and a diamond-encrusted ring was too much, but a gold ring with a modest amount of diamonds was just right. “Perfect!” Pendulum smiled. “What’s perfect, Other Daddy?” Biscuit asked, with his electric collar. “Oh,” Pendulum gasped. “I-It’s nothing, Biscuit.” “It’s not good to lie, Other Daddy…” Biscuit grumbled in disappointment, shaking his head. “Well,”

The next morning, in the abode of Gart DeFault, he and his boyfriend, Pendulum Depot, jolted awake to the alarm clock’s ringing; Gart switched the alarm off, but he remembered that he submitted news of forming a truce between the Blinking Lights and Solid Lights Factories. “Oh my…” he gulped. “Brace yourself…” “Let’s hope things go well.” Pendulum sighed, before putting on his hat and scarf. Gart instinctively straightened the scarf, and smiled, “You must look your best, after all.” “Thank you.” Pendulum smiled, as they shared a kiss. “Daddy?” Gart’s puppy, Biscuit, piped up, through his electric collar. “Are we gonna go back to Other Daddy’s house, soon?” “Yes, Biscuit,” Gart nodded. “If and when things go well, today, we’ll transfer more of our belongings.” “Let’s hope for the best, dear.” Pendulum replied. “Bye-bye, Other Daddy.” Biscuit yipped. “Don’t worry, Biscuit,” Pendulum reassured him. “You’ll see me, again.” At the Blinking Lights Factory, Gart sat in his office, still

The next morning, in the abode of Pendulum Depot, the alarm clock rang out, waking him, his boyfriend, Gart DeFault, and Gart’s puppy, Biscuit, up, with a jolt. “Oh my,” Gart remembered. “I have to get to my place, and fetch my blimp, otherwise, people would get suspicious!” “Don’t worry,” Pendulum reassured him, turning the alarm clock off. “We still have plenty of time, to get ready for work.” “Will things get better, Daddies?” Biscuit asked, through his electric collar. “I’m not sure…” Gart sighed. “Well, I just hope people take the news of our truce well enough.” “They might find it odd, at first,” Pendulum guessed. “But I’m sure they won’t mind it, too much. “It’s going to be okay, love.” he went on, taking his hands into his own. “I hope so…” Gart sighed. After he and Pendulum parted ways, Gart returned to his house, where everything else was left as it was, on Friday; Biscuit smelled the air, and mused, “It smells kinda empty.” “I know…” Gart frowned, locating his blimp keys

The next morning, Gart DeFault and Pendulum Depot slowly awoke in each other’s arms, and Gart instinctively rolled to the back door to let his puppy, Biscuit, out, while Pendulum straightened the bed up. “I’ll make us some coffee.” Pendulum offered. “If you insist.” Gart sighed, still feeling tired. Biscuit returned inside, looked up at Gart, and asked, through his electronic collar, “Are you still sleepy, Daddy?” “A little.” Gart admitted. “I’m sure this will help.” Pendulum answered, handing him a cup of bacon coffee. “A morning person, are you, Pendulum?” Gart asked. “On some occasions, yes,” Pendulum replied. “I like the mornings.” “Well,” Gart sighed. “At least I don’t sleep fitfully, anymore… much.” “Hmm?” Pendulum perked up, now concerned. “How long have you been sleeping fitfully?” “Ever since my father left the Blinking Lights Factory to me…” Gart grimaced, feeling icky. “You never told me what happened, between you and your father.” Pendulum mused, sitting next to him, with
