(full title: "Seven Little Monsters: Operation: Tricks and Treats Ch. 5") Finally, Halloween arrived, and news of the Halloween Vandal reached Mom; “What fiend could do such a thing?” she glowered. “We know who it is, Mom.” Two answered. “Miss Tawny.” Seven added. “Our new neighbor?” Mom gasped. “Yep.” One nodded. “She thinks that kids don’t deserve to celebrate Halloween…” “Hmm, doesn’t like fun, hmm?” Mom sneered. “Apparently not…” Three huffed. “One’s got a plan, though,” Four explained. “And I hope it works.” “We just gotta work together, on this.” One reminded him. “Right,” Two nodded. “Let’s gather up as much evidence as we can get.” “Camera, check.” Five piped up, holding up a camera. “Great,” One grinned. “Let’s go.” As the monsters walked around the neighborhood, they snapped photos of every wrecked front yard they found, including a few photos of Miss Tawny actively smashing jack-o-lanterns. “You won’t ruin Halloween…” Six sneered, to herself. “Not for these kids…” At

A few neighbors claimed that someone destroyed their Halloween decorations, but no one knew who the mysterious “Halloween Vandal” was. “Oh dear,” Seven worried. “I hope the vandal doesn’t come after our place…” “Whoever it is, they should be ashamed…” Two glowered. “They’re probably just jealous.” Four scoffed. “Just one more night, until Halloween,” One sighed, checking the calendar. “Hope it goes well, tonight.” As the monster siblings played a game of oversized hopscotch, they overheard some kids talking. “The Halloween Vandal stole my candy, last night!” a boy frowned. “Huh…?!” the monsters gasped. “Stolen candy…?” Five gasped, in horror. “The Vandal took my candy away, too,” a girl frowned. “Even my giant

Mom made sure that things were in good shape, and even brought plenty of candy for both Three’s prop coffin, and Six’s prop cauldron. “I even added some giant lollipops, into the candy mix.” she explained. “Oh, that’s perfect, Mother!” Six gasped, in delight. “The kids are gonna love this!” “Ooh, and salt-water taffy!” Three grinned, baring his false vampire fangs. "Perfect to sink my fangs into!" “And how long will this attraction last?” Mom asked. “Just until Halloween night,” One explained. “Once Halloween is over, we’ll take it all down.” “It’s gonna be hard,” Four admitted. “But it’ll be fun, while it lasts.” “Almost ready, now.” Two grinned, stringing up some lights in his section. “Yes, this may be early,” Three sighed. “But our friends deserve a grand Halloween, this

Four helped Five create a giant prop barbell, labeled 5000 lbs., and Five giggled, “Me, strongman!” “Heh, nice choice.” Four smirked. With Six, she and Mom began making a lovely black dress, with a pointy hat to match; “Hmm,” Six mused. “I think I might look good, in black.” “That All Hallows Eve plan of yours sounds like a wonderful idea, as well.” Mom smiled. “It was mostly Two’s idea, but yeah,” Six clarified. “We’re gonna use our costumes as part of it.” “Oh, how clever!” Mom giggled. “I can’t wait to see all my mushkas dressed in their best costumes, this year!” “Oh, we’ll see.” Six nodded. As Mom finished the last stitch in the dress, she held it up, and smiled, “All finished, my Sixlin.” “This is perfect!” Six beamed, holding it up. “Now to try it on! “Oh, and paint my face, to see how it’ll look.” she

(full title: "Seven Little Monsters: Operation: Tricks and Treats Ch. 1") It was a crisp fall day, on 1234567 Chestnut Street, and seven monsters were decorating their house for the upcoming holiday: Halloween. “I love this time of year,” Four chuckled, hanging a ghost on one of the tree branches. “It’s the one night of the year where we can act as wild as we want, and no one’s gonna be bothered by it!” “Hmm, maybe some purple, here?” Six mused, hanging dark purple tinsel on the house. “I got the last jack-o-lantern.” her sister, One, piped up, setting a jack-o-lantern on the porch. A vampire-costumed Three looked the house up and down, and smiled, using a perfect Transylvanian accent, “Yes, this is perfect, for Halloween.” Five giggled, thinking about the upcoming celebration, “Candy!” “Yep,” Four chuckled, in agreement. “In seven days, it’ll be candy time!” “I wonder what everyone else is doing, this season?” Seven mused, hanging up a glow-in-the-dark skeleton. “Well, the house is

One fine day, on 1234567 Chestnut Street, seven young monsters were playing a game of badminton, in the backyard, while their pet cow, Belinda, looked on. “The score is 3-2,” Two observed, acting as the scorekeeper. “Perhaps this game will be tied, in a minute.” “Service!” One announced, putting the birdie into play. After a bit of back-and-forth, Six scored another point for her team; “Nice shot, Six!” One smiled, being a good sport. “Thanks!” Six smiled, twirling the racquet in her hand. Suddenly, their mother called out, “Oh, mushkas, I’m off to run some errands.” “Okay, Mom,” One acknowledged. “We’ll handle everything.” “Yeah,” Four agreed. “We’ll hold down the fort, like we always do.” “I know you’re all responsible, my dears,” Mom nodded. “But I wanted to try something new, this time.” “New???” Two gasped. “I’ve arranged for a sitter to be with you,” Mom explained. “Her name is Rosa.” “Rosa?” Six mused. “That’s a pretty name.” “But we don’t know a Rosa, do we?” Three asked. “No

The next day, after breakfast, the monsters were skipping rope, outside, when their friend, Mary, came by, and greeted them, “Monsters, you gotta see this far-out video I made of you guys!” “What video?” Two asked, before missing a step and falling to the ground. “Oof!” “From last night, of course,” Mary replied. “That groovy opening act was out of sight!” All seven monsters were confused, but they followed Mary inside, where she searched up the video, online. Four looked closer and read the video’s title, “‘Groovy Opening Act, ft. Surprise Guests’.” As the video played, Two recognized the venue, and gasped, “Wait, that’s from last night…!” “Exactly,” Mary grinned, as the thumping music played. “And like I said, it was far out!” “Uh, Mom?” One called. “Yes, my Onelin?” Mom replied. “You know how you wished you were with us, last night?” One explained. “Oh, yes, I did.” Mom nodded. “Well,” One went on, gesturing to the computer screen. “Here it is, Mary recorded it.” “Oh, that’s an

The next day, Three still remembered the terrible evening, before, but he was thankful that his family still loved him, and that he still had some friends by his side. “I guess it’s time I found a new celebrity to admire…” he sighed, stirring through his bowl of cereal. “I still wanna give that Maya Perry a piece of my mind…” Four glowered. “Why is she so mean…?” Seven wondered, before taking a bite of his scramble. “All she cares about is fame…” Three sighed. “Oh…” Six frowned, shaking her head. “Even I know that’s not right.” A few minutes later, Three looked in the mirror, still remembering Maya Perry’s insults, and, after making a few scary faces, he sighed, “Am I really ugly…?” “Ugly?” Six gasped, snapping him out of it. “What gave you that idea?” “Oh, I still can’t get Miss Perry’s mean words out of my head…” Three frowned. “My favorite singer-... er, used-to-be-favorite singer, is just a mean one…” “Wait,” One piped up. “Don’t concerts usually have an opening act?” “What’s an

The next day, Three only wondered where Maya Perry’s concert was due to take place, and he finally noticed a tour bus arriving at a nearby stadium. “There she is!” he gasped. “I just gotta meet her, today!” “Hey, dreamer,” Four called. “Are you coming, or what?” “Uh, yeah, I’m coming.” Three nodded, before joining his siblings on their tandem bike. As they got home, the rest of Three’s siblings were a bit befuddled, as their excited brother gathered some flowers into a bouquet, and pulled out one of his best suits, from the closet. “What is this?” One asked. “A bouquet of flowers? “A fancy suit?” she went on, raising an eyebrow. “Are you sure you need all that?” “Of course I am,” Three insisted. “I want to make a good first impression, with Miss Perry.” “Why not give her a box of assorted chocolates, while you’re at it?” Four joked. “Mmm, candy!” Five cheered. “Very funny, Four.” Three sighed, rolling his eyes. “It’s a gift.” Four chuckled. That afternoon, Three put on his suit, and

It was a lovely spring day, on 1234567 Chestnut Street, and a ten-foot-tall monster, named Three, was writing out another letter to one of his favorite singers: a woman named Maya Perry. Aside from being a great singer, Miss Perry was also beautiful, but Three couldn’t understand why his letters never got replies. “I wish she had a concert, in our town.” he sighed, before mailing off his most recent letter. “Aww, who knows?” his younger sister, Six, piped up. “Maybe she will, someday?” “I hope so.” Three sighed, again. “In the meantime, I’ll just keep listening to her music, and waiting for her to reply to my letters.” “What’s so great about Maya Perry, anyway?” his younger brother, Four, asked. “Well, for one thing,” Three chuckled. “She’s very pretty.” Six looked a little dubious, but she agreed with her brother’s statement, before asking, “Anything else?” “She can also sing,” Three went on. “And she always seems so nice, to other people.” Their older brother, Two, overheard the
